Mainak Bhaumik to debut as a theatre director in October

His Family Album might be out in the open for all to see, but that hasn't stopped Mainak Bhaumik from moving on to his next project. And this one doesn't involve films. The young filmmaker is now ready to enter an all new `stage' in life -he will debut as a theatre director with the group Ichheymoto, this October.
Saurav Palodhi, one of Ichheymoto's founders, says, ���Usually Turna Das or I direct the plays under our banner, but Mainakda has agreed to direct his first play with us.It's a huge encouragement for our team and we feel honoured. He has been associated with us for a long time now. It's too early to reveal anything, but yes, both Mainakda and I will be writing the script. It will be a satire, with political elements, but there's a lot more to the play. We haven't decided on a title yet."

Incidentally, Mainak had edited the promotional trailer for the Ichheymoto production, Natok Tar Naam Ki?. This is the same play for which they had roped in Cactus frontman Sidhu to score the music. The first show of the new production will be staged on October 12, which also happens to be Mahalaya. ���This will be a comedy satire. We have a tendency of putting our icons on a pedestal. This is the trend I want to dismantle through the play, which will break the fourth wall and incorporate interactive elements like dialogues with the audience. We'll not have anyone from Tollywood in the play," said Mainak.
